Project Yellow Brick House

Project type

Full Home Renovation

Date

August 2025

Location

Historic District of Detroit

A full kitchen renovation grounded in material tension — matte green cabinetry against natural white oak, champagne brass fixtures that reflect the history of the home even though this kitchen is brand new, and a hand-selected dark wood accent door that anchors the entire composition. Every surface was chosen to age gracefully, rewarding daily use rather than resisting it. The design balances warmth and edge: the zelige subway tile backsplash for quiet rhythm, statement pendant lighting for presence, and a Taj Mahal countertop that bridges the two. This kitchen was designed to feel collected — as though each element arrived over decades, not a single install date. The bathrooms are done in all marble, floors and shower wall. Again a nod to the history of the home while making it feel modern. The detail of the vanity in the Primary suite, the textured wallpaper. Deep green tone in the laundry room that is off the kitchen carries the theme all the way through.
